About Me
After being cut from my High School basketball team two years in a row I decided I would do a sport where I would never be cut or benched; Cross Country. I fell in love with distance running right away and realized I must have some talent as I won most of the races I entered during my final two years at Bountiful High School and set the Utah High School State Record for 800 Meters my Senior year. I went on to run at Brigham Young University from 1999-2003 where I became an All-American in the 3,000 M Steeplechase (9:59.50) and in Cross Country. I had a pretty amazing college experience and learned a lot about myself during that time.
I married Aaron in 2002 and two years later, we started our family. Three consecutive pregnancy/birth/breastfeeding adventures in just under four years left little energy or time for much else but I did run my first marathon in 2007 on mediocre training and sleep deprivation as a mother of two young children. After my third child was born in 2008, I regained the drive and motivation to get back to the elite level of running and set my sights on the 2012 Olympic Trials in the Marathon. I train with the Running Republic of Boulder team, coached by Darren De Reuck. My top priorities are being a supportive wife to my entrepreneur husband and a great Mom to my kids. Running is something enables me to keep my life balanced and continue to improve myself and magnify the talent that God has blessed me with. This blog is for me to share some of what I learn/experience through family life and running and hopefully benefit someone else along the way.
Aaron and I and our three kiddos live in Boulder, CO. Aaron has built a successful real-estate investing business which keeps him very busy. He also loves to train for and race in Ultra Running Events (50K+). I spend my time taking care of/playing with the kids, cooking, cleaning, serving in my Church, oh, and running too. Our family website is www.kennardhome.com and I also keep a daily running log.
